Don’t worry, because the best photos aren’t perfectly posed with everyone looking at the camera. They’re the in-between moments. The way you laugh together mid-conversation, the way you lock eyes with your partner, or the way your little one reaches for your hand. The chaos, the calm, and the connection.
You don’t need everything to be perfect.
You don’t need to know what to do.
That’s where I come in.
A little about me (and how I got here)
I’m Beth—a lifestyle photographer based in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. I specialize in natural, candid photography for families, couples, and growing brands across Cedar Rapids and throughout Eastern Iowa.
About one year ago, I stepped away from a 12-year career in the financial services industry after becoming a mom. Like so many people, that season shifted everything for me. I found myself wanting something different—more time at home, more presence in the day-to-day, more connection to the life we were building.
Photography had always been something I loved, but it became something more. It became a way to build a life that aligned with what mattered most.
With the support of my husband, I took the leap into running my business full time, and it’s been one of the best decisions we’ve made for our family.
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, both through becoming a mom and through life experiences, it’s how quickly everything changes.
The little things you think you’ll remember… you don’t always.
The phases that feel long… somehow are gone in a flash.
And that’s true whether you’re raising kids, building a business, growing in your relationship, or simply wanting to document life as it is right now.
I’ve also experienced how much more meaningful photos can become over time. After losing my dad in 2016, they became more than just images—they became something to hold onto. A way to keep those memories alive.
So when I pick up my camera now, that’s what I’m thinking about.
Not perfection.
Not performance.
Just what this season feels like…right now.
What It’s Like to Work With a Lifestyle Photographer
